Senior Markets offer farmers market style free produce distributions for low income seniors. The markets are held in eight locations, twice each month at the same time and place. Each location is either designated Section 8 (or low income) housing for senior citizens, or in a disadvantaged area where low-income seniors congregate based on census data. Clients receive an average of 9 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables at each market. Nutrition information and cooking tips are provided. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) staff or volunteers are often, but not always, available to assist clients.
