TRIP, or Transportation Reimbursement and Information Project, is a self-directed, mileage reimbursement transportation service for volunteer friends and neighbors transporting older adults and people with disabilities who cannot drive or use public transportation. TRIP riders recruit the driver of their choice, such as a friend or neighbor. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage when providing transportation to medical appointments, errands, and other outings.

-Riders must be unable to drive or use public transportation
-Riders must be elderly (no specific age limit) OR have a permanent disability
-Riders must not have family support.

How to Apply
A referral is required. To request a referral, call Riverside County Office on Aging Senior HelpLink at 951-867-3800. You will be contacted via phone to complete an intake assessment.
You will need to provide basic personal information (e.g., address,date of birth); information about your health, mobility, and activities of daily living (e.g., dressing, meal preparation) assistance needs, and reason you are unable to use public transportation. Documentation may be requested from your physician. Contact information for your driver is requested.
Drivers are eligible for reimbursement as soon as their rider is enrolled in the program, but there is generally a wait list for enrollment. Drivers must submit a reimbursement form for all trips.
