College of the Desert (COD) offers programs for adults who are looking to earn a high school diploma or prepare to take the GED Test. COD also offers non-credit classes to help non-native speakers learn to read, speak, and write in English.
-The fee is $20 per semester in fall and spring and $17 per semester for summer sessions (when available).
-The high school diploma program requires 160 credits and proficiency in English, math, and reading. Transfer credits are accepted from national and international schools, but a minimum of 20 credits must be taken at COD.
-The GED and high school diploma programs are offered in English only. ESL students with tested English proficiency at Level 4 or 5 are encouraged to transition to the high school diploma or GED program.

How to Apply
Complete an online admissions application to begin the enrollment process. Once you have submitted your application, it is preferred that you walk into the main campus office during business hours (8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday) to submit your high school transcript and schedule an appointment with an academic counselor. You may also leave your transcript in the secure drop box outside the office or request that your high school submit it directly to COD. Registration for the high school diploma program is accepted until the 10th week of the semester. There is generally no wait list for the high school diploma or GED program: a wait list may apply for the ESL program.
Hours vary by program and location. Courses are generally offered at the following times and locations:
-Desert Hot Springs campus: Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am-2:00pm
-Indio campus: Monday through Thursday, 6:00pm-8:50pm
-Palm Desert campus: Monday through Thursday 8:15am-7:20pm
